Hyophorbe Verschaffelti - Antique illustration of a Mascarene palm

This reproduction illustrates Hyophorbe Verschaffelti, an emblematic palm of the Mascarene and Seychelles islands. The naturalist plate highlights the characteristic yellow midline of the pinnae and the rigid silhouette of the species. Resulting from rigorous botanical study, the image restores the chromatic nuances and morphological details identified by 19th-century scholars.

The original work, published in 1878 in the work Les Palmiers by Oswald de Kerchove de Denterghem, is signed by P. De Pannemaker. It reflects the craftsmanship of naturalist illustrators of the period, whose mission was to reconcile aesthetics and scientific exactness. This work fits into a documentary corpus dedicated to the study of Arecoideae cultivated in temperate greenhouses.

This antique plate is ideal for building a thematic series on island flora or for decorating a classical-style interior. It invites the contemplation of plant diversity and underlines the importance of European horticultural heritage. Its documentary value makes it a durable collector's item for nature enthusiasts.
