This print is a faithful reproduction of an illustration of the Colombard grape variety, taken from Viala and Vermorel's monumental Ampelographie. The plate precisely depicts a cluster with greenish-yellow berries, accompanied by leaves and an orange-toned stem. The rigorous naturalist approach prioritizes the exact morphological identification of this historical wine variety.
Produced at the beginning of the 20th century, this illustration is part of a vast scientific project documenting wine heritage. Viala and Vermorel's work remains emblematic of a period when botanical illustration combined scientific accuracy with artistic sensitivity. The pale yellow background accentuates the didactic character and clarity of the original composition.
Intended for enthusiasts of botany and history, this antique plate constitutes a refined decorative object. It evokes the charm of herbariums and scientific treatises of the past, while enhancing the culture of wine.
