Imperial Fritillary Botanical Plate by Pierre-Joseph Redouté

Reproduction of a naturalist illustration by Pierre-Joseph Redouté depicting the Imperial Fritillary (Fritillaria imperialis). This plate features an orange inflorescence crowned with green leaves, typical of this majestic liliaceous plant. The precision of the line emphasizes the complex structure of the drooping bells, offering a balanced chromatic study against a cream background.

Taken from the collection Choix des plus belles fleurs published in 1827, this work bears witness to the excellence of 19th-century lithography. Redouté, a master of floral painting, documents here a variety introduced into Europe as early as the 16th century, initially cultivated in Vienna by L'Ecluse. The artist manages to capture the splendor and vibrancy of the flower with remarkable scientific rigor.

This reproduction is intended for collectors of botanical studies and lovers of historical iconography. Its documentary character and sober aesthetics allow for detailed observation of ancient flora. It can be collected for its historical value or used to enrich a contemporary cabinet of curiosities.
