This reproduction of a plate by Hasui Kawase represents the Meguro Fudo temple in a brightly colored composition. The illustration stages traditional religious architecture, highlighted by stone stairs and an ornamental lantern, at the heart of blooming spring vegetation. Iconographic analysis reveals precise work on the contrasts between the red of the sacred structures and the green of the trees.

From the early 20th-century Shin-hanga artistic movement, this work testifies to Hasui Kawase's desire to document Japan's historic sites with a naturalist approach. The artist manages to capture the peaceful atmosphere and spiritual dimension of the place through a remarkable mastery of light and architectural details.

This antique poster constitutes a valuable documentary support for collectors of Japanese or religious themes. It can be contemplated for its graphic richness or integrated into an interior for its decorative value and its evocation of the serenity of classic Japanese landscapes.
