Kentia Macrocarpa - Antique botanical illustration of a palm

This reproduction of Kentia Macrocarpa (Kentiopsis) features a rare species native to New Caledonia. The naturalist plate focuses on the development of the fronds and the colorful inflorescences that characterize this vigorous palm. The graphic rendering, typical of 19th-century scientific publications, highlights the plant's brown and green nuances with remarkable observational fidelity.

The illustration comes from the historical work of Oswald de Kerchove de Denterghem, brought to images by P. De Pannemaker. This documentary work celebrates the horticultural introductions of the period, notably those of the Linden house. The style combines the rigor of botanical study with a balanced composition, typical of major encyclopedic prints from the late 19th century.

Intended to enrich a collection of naturalist images, this antique plate offers a fascinating glimpse into Oceanian flora. It is perfectly suited for sober and erudite wall decoration, highlighting the heritage of classical horticulture. Its precision makes it a subject of study and contemplation for botany enthusiasts.
