This faithful reproduction presents the discovery of Moses on the banks of the Nile. The scene captures the moment the basket is retrieved by the Egyptian princess's maidservants amidst the river vegetation. The visual composition plays on the horizontality of the river and the verticality of the architectural structures in the background, creating a balance between nature and civilization.

Taken from the 1866 edition of The Holy Bible with Illustrations, this engraving perfectly illustrates the spirit of the era when Doré sought to combine historical realism and dramatic intensity. The brushwork on the water and reeds demonstrates great technical virtuosity, typical of nineteenth-century French wood engraving, favoring an atmosphere that is both gentle and solemn.

This naturalistic plate is suitable for collectors of historical and biblical scenes. It easily integrates into a carefully decorated interior, providing documentary value on the artistic interpretation of ancient texts. Its reading offers an immersion into the graphic style characteristic of one of France's most famous illustrators.
