This reproduction of an antique engraving illustrates a dense swarm of multicolored butterflies. The plate stands out for the complexity of the geometric patterns ornamenting the insects' wings. The extensive chromatic palette, including red, blue, yellow, and green, creates a rich visual ensemble against a uniform beige background, typical of prints from that era.

Created by Kamisaka Sekka for his work Chō senshu, this piece reflects the influence of the Rimpa movement on naturalist illustration in Japan. The composition saturates the space to evoke a multitude, while maintaining remarkable technical precision in the rendering of each specimen, reflecting the artist's encyclopedic spirit.

This documentary piece is ideal for those interested in natural history and Japanese iconography. Its semantic and visual richness makes it a study support or a refined decorative element. It highlights the diversity of life forms through a coherent artistic and scientific prism.
