This reproduction is a mycology study dedicated to the penny bun mushroom, better known as the porcini. Taken from Charles d'Orbigny's encyclopedia, this illustration details with meticulousness the cap, stem, and internal structures of the fungus, offering a complete and didactic vision of the species in its whole and cross-section aspects.
The fruit of collaborative work directed by d'Orbigny in the 19th century, this plate testifies to the rigor of the naturalists of the period. The engraving line and chromatic nuances aim for a faithful representation of living things, transforming a simple biological study into a graphic work of great historical and documentary value.
This visual document is aimed at mycologists and lovers of botanical art alike. Its descriptive nature and classical style make it a choice piece to adorn a living space or to enrich a collection dedicated to the wonders of the fungal world.
