This reproduction highlights a plate by Émile-Allain Séguy featuring butterflies with geometric patterns, including the species Delias neagra and Catagramma kolyma. Iconographic analysis reveals a strength of line and a hierarchy of elements that transform these biological subjects into true chromatic and graphic studies.

Inspired by the ornament albums of the 1920s, this illustration highlights the spirit of the Art Deco era. The artist deploys an encyclopedic intention where scientific precision meets ornamental elegance. These compositions were intended to nourish the imagination of pattern and textile creators of the interwar period.

This ancient plate appeals equally to enthusiasts of natural sciences and lovers of historical design. It can be collected or used to bring a documentary and authentic touch to an interior space.
