Naturalist Illustration of Lichens - Ernst Haeckel

This reproduction highlights the fascinating universe of lichens through a high-precision naturalist engraving. The graphic work exposes the variety of thalli, whether foliose or fruticose, using a marked contrast of gray and black. The iconographic analysis reveals a particular attention paid to the complex textures and reproduction structures of these symbiotic organisms, creating a visual composition that is both austere and incredibly detailed.

Inspired by the works of Ernst Haeckel, this plate fits into the tradition of the great scientific explorations of the late 19th century. Haeckel, through his lithographs, sought to classify nature while revealing its decorative potential. The lichen, although often discreet in its natural environment, here becomes the central subject of a chromatic and morphological study that foreshadows the formal research of European Art Nouveau aesthetics.

This antique illustration is ideal for those who appreciate the beauty of botanical and mycological details. It is aimed at enthusiasts of botany, natural sciences, or vintage-style decoration. Its graphic sobriety allows for easy integration into various environments, offering an educational and historical focal point on the plant and fungal world often overlooked in forests and rocky environments.
