Naturalist Illustration of Petit Verdot - Ampelographic Plate

This reproduction of a naturalist print highlights the Petit Verdot, a demanding grape variety represented here with great chromatic fidelity. The purple cluster, contrasting with the bright green foliage and the yellow tones of the background, is drawn with particular attention paid to the details of the skin and the stem. This plate is part of the tradition of technical illustration where each visual element serves botanical knowledge.

The original support is extracted from the Ampélographie, the reference treatise by Pierre Viala and Victor Vermorel edited between 1901 and 1910. This period marks the peak of lithographed wine illustration, where science and art united to catalog plant heritage. The plate embodies the encyclopedic spirit and observational rigor proper to the naturalists of the last century.

This antique illustration is particularly suitable for decorating a cellar, a restaurant, or a study. It offers an immersion in the history of viticulture through a precise and sober representation. Its iconographic value makes it an ideal medium to appreciate the diversity of grape varieties over time.
