This reproduction of a mammalogy engraving presents the Malabar Giant Squirrel captured in its arboreal habitat, as well as the common hamster on the ground. This document comes from the monumental work of Charles d'Orbigny, the Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle, an essential scientific reference of the 19th century.
The illustration is distinguished by its observational accuracy and the use of chromatic contrasts between the fawn, orange, and black tones of the coats. Each animal is represented with particular attention paid to the texture of the fur and the characteristic posture of the species, illustrating the descriptive approach typical of the naturalists of this period.
This collection poster is perfectly suited for lovers of wildlife and classic decor. It offers a visual testimony of biodiversity as documented by French scholars, blending encyclopedic rigor with the art of engraving for wall decoration rich in knowledge.
