This reproduction of a zoological plate illustrates various species of terrestrial and marine turtles belonging to the Chelonia order. The composition highlights the diversity of shells and morphologies of these reptiles. Visual analysis reveals particular attention paid to scaly textures and natural geometric patterns specific to each specimen.

The original document belongs to the work Kunstformen der Natur by the naturalist Ernst Haeckel. Through this series of plates, the author sought to demonstrate the unity and complexity of the animal kingdom. His unique graphic style, combining empirical observation and a sense of layout, has made his lithographs major references in scientific illustration.

This naturalist print is ideal for building a thematic collection on wildlife. It readily lends itself to careful observation, offering zoology and ancient art enthusiasts a historical overview of vertebrate classification from the beginning of the last century.
