This reproduction of a naturalist plate highlights Foraminifera, marine microorganisms with exceptionally fine calcareous structures. Taken from Ernst Haeckel's famous collection Kunstformen der Natur, this illustration bears witness to scientific rigor combined with a fascinating geometric aesthetic, typical of the German biologist's work on microscopic forms.
The original work, published between 1899 and 1904, illustrates Haeckel's encyclopedic intention to catalog biological diversity. Its precise lines and the symmetrical composition of this plate have lastingly marked the style of the era, directly influencing the organic motifs of the Art Nouveau movement through its innovative vision of natural symmetry.
This poster is perfectly suited for enthusiasts of natural history and scientific graphics. It constitutes a historical testimony on the exploration of microscopic marine life, finding its place in a documentary collection or as an aesthetic wall study piece for interiors with a classic or naturalist style.
