Naturalist plate of Mycetozoa slime molds by Ernst Haeckel

This reproduction of a scientific plate explores the world of slime molds, classified here under the term Mycetozoa. The illustration faithfully restores the complex structure and singular morphology of these organisms. The black-and-white chromatic contrast accentuates the strength of the line and the hierarchy of the observed elements, highlighting their almost architectural appearance.

The illustration is taken from the encyclopedic collection Kunstformen der Natur by Ernst Haeckel. This monumental iconographic work aimed to catalog the most diverse life forms, from the simplest to the most complex. Haeckel thus revealed to the general public the hidden beauty of often misunderstood micro-organisms, influencing the artistic currents of his time.

This document is intended for nature enthusiasts and lovers of minimalist graphic art. Its documentary value and sober aesthetics make it a privileged medium for contemplation, bearing witness to the encyclopedic intention of the famous German biologist.
