This reproduction of a naturalist plate illustrates the diversity of starfish (Asteridea) with remarkable documentary precision. The specimens, in warm shades of orange and yellow, are arranged symmetrically on a black background, highlighting every detail of their epidermal structure and stellar morphology. This visual study captures the rigorous elegance of marine forms observed by 19th-century biologists.

The source document belongs to Ernst Haeckel's iconic work Kunstformen der Natur. This collection marked the history of science and arts by revealing the mathematical beauty of nature. Haeckel's graphic style, characterized by a strict visual hierarchy and a quest for balance, served as a bridge between zoological observation and modern decorative aesthetics.

This illustration is aimed at lovers of antique engravings and oceanography enthusiasts. Whether for a cabinet of curiosities or refined decoration, this reproduction constitutes a tribute to scientific expeditions and the inventory of the biological world. Its sustained chromatic contrast makes it a centerpiece for observation and contemplation.
