This reproduction features Phlox Reptans, also known as Phlox stolonifera. The illustration pays tribute to this creeping North American species, highlighting its delicate inflorescences and characteristic stems that earned it its specific name. Redouté's work here emphasizes the fragile grace of this undergrowth plant.

Documented in Choix des plus belles fleurs (1827), this plate is part of the tradition of great botanical explorations. Pierre-Joseph Redouté successfully captured the essence of this plant introduced to Europe in the early 19th century, offering botanists and amateurs a representation of absolute chromatic and structural fidelity.

Perfectly suited for framing, this illustration is a prime choice for interior decoration focused on natural history. It introduces a scientific and artistic dimension to a room, recalling the golden age of botanical illustration.
