This naturalist plate print is a faithful reproduction of a remarkable work by Émile-Allain Séguy. The illustration features five brilliantly hued butterflies, dominated by vibrant blue, orange and brown against a cream background. The rigorous composition balances wing geometry and the fineness of anatomical details in a chromatic study characteristic of the early 20th century.

Published during the 1920s, this work is at the heart of the Art Deco period. Séguy transforms the scientific observation of Lepidoptera into a powerful ornamental repertoire for the decorative arts. The stylized linework and mastery of contrast perfectly capture the meeting of natural science and the graphic aesthetics of his era.

Intended to be framed or displayed as is, this print naturally finds its place within a refined interior decoration or documentary collection. It offers a natural history testimony that is both contemplative and highly decorative.
