This naval plate is a reproduction of a technical lithography detailing the canoe of the Governor of Ambon in the Moluccas. It offers a complete side view of the two-masted watercraft as well as cross-sections and hull plans. The rigorous composition allows one to observe the structural complexity and distinctive ornaments of this prestige vessel, marked by woody hues and touches of green.

Taken from the collection of the voyage of the Astrolabe (1830–1835), this plate results from direct observations made by François Edmond Pâris during the expedition to the Pacific. The approach here is as much technical as ethnographic, aiming to archive the maritime know-how of the island peoples encountered between 1826 and 1829. It reflects the spirit of the great French scientific expeditions of the 19th century.

Intended for enthusiasts of naval history and ancient cartography, this reproduction brings an erudite dimension to a documentary collection. It lends itself to wall display, offering a precise look at traditional naval architecture in Southeast Asia. Its graphical finesse invites a detailed contemplation of the construction and deck layout details.
