This reproduction of a naturalist plate illustrates a composition of orchids, historically known as Venus Flowers. The engraving details the diversity of petals, labella, and stems of several species, notably the genus Cypripedium, in a harmony of whites, pinks, and greens against a neutral beige background.

A central figure in scientific illustration, Ernst Haeckel included this floral study in his masterpiece Kunstformen der Natur. This plate reflects his interest in complex symmetries and the ornamental richness of flowering plants, characteristics that profoundly influenced the decorative arts in the early 1900s.

Intended for lovers of botanical art and natural history, this vintage poster brings an academic and elegant dimension to any space. It allows for the rediscovery of the classification of Orchidaceae through the eyes of one of the greatest scientific illustrators of the 19th century.
