This reproduction of a botanical engraving highlights the Pinot blanc Chardonnay grape variety. The plate illustrates a cluster of mature white grapes, surrounded by large, veined green leaves. The precision of the drawing allows for an analysis of the morphological specificities of this historical variety with great visual and technical clarity.
The source document comes from the Ampelography treatise published by Viala and Vermorel at the beginning of the 20th century. This encyclopedic work remains a global reference for viticulture. The iconography reflects the scientific ambition to classify vine varieties with a naturalist accuracy characteristic of the era.
This antique illustration is intended for enthusiasts of oenology and the history of science. It can be viewed as an archival document or used to enrich an interior decor with a documentary touch, recalling the historical richness of European grape varieties in a classical perspective.
