This reproduction of an artistic natural history poster depicts Bryozoans (Moostierre), colonial organisms with branched forms evoking plant structures. The illustration, signed Ernst Haeckel, details the complexity of these moss animals, offering a fascinating glimpse of aquatic biodiversity as it was studied in the late 19th century.

The plate comes from the masterpiece Kunstformen der Natur, published between 1899 and 1904. It embodies the Haeckelian vision where each biological subject becomes a model of natural design. This unique style exerted a considerable influence on decorative arts, making these scientific surveys true iconographic references of the Art Nouveau movement.

This antique illustration is particularly suited for interiors favoring a naturalist or academic atmosphere. It constitutes a unique medium for contemplation for biology and graphic art enthusiasts, valuing the heritage of great scientific expeditions and early lithographic collections of natural sciences.
