Plate of busks and industrial springs — Peugeot Frères Catalog 1885

This reproduction of a technical plate from the Peugeot Frères catalog of 1885 illustrates a wide range of specialized busks and springs. The document presents a great variety of mechanical components, ranging from music springs for clocks to telegraph and lamp springs. The precision of the engraving makes it possible to distinguish the different curvatures and tensions of the steels, characteristics of the manufacture's metallurgical productions during this period.

The original work served as a ordering guide for watchmakers, mechanics and other technical trades of the late 19th century. It perfectly illustrates the encyclopedic spirit of the catalog, seeking to cover all industrial needs of the era. The graphic style is marked by a rigorous hierarchy, where each spring is drawn with a functional exactitude proper to historical industrial drawing.

This technical illustration, with its sober and elegant rendering, constitutes an ideal decoration element for an interior with an industrial style or a research office. It allows one to appreciate the complexity and diversity of the mechanical parts of the past. As a reproduction, it offers a documentary look at French artisanal and industrial know-how from the late 19th century.
