This faithful reproduction of a naturalist plate illustrates various species of lizards, including the remarkable basilisk. This document comes from the collection Kunstformen der Natur, a masterly work by biologist Ernst Haeckel that combines scientific rigor and graphic virtuosity.

The illustration features a careful composition typical of the 19th century, where each reptile is represented with particular attention paid to scales and postures. The naturalist atmosphere of the era is restored through a palette of beige and green tones, bearing witness to the author's passion for zoology.

Ideal for collectors of natural history images, this scientific poster allows one to appreciate the morphology of saurians. It fits into a tradition of documenting living things, offering lasting documentary and contemplative value.
