Plate of Six-Rayed Star Corals - Ernst Haeckel

This faithful reproduction offers a spectacular vision of six-rayed star corals, capturing the rigorous geometry of marine calcareous structures. The illustration focuses on the radiated motifs of the polyps, presented with remarkable lithographic precision in black and beige. The visual hierarchy highlights the details of the septa and orifices, transforming these living organisms into true mineral laces originating from oceanic depths.

The subject is taken from Ernst Haeckel's encyclopedic collection, Kunstformen der Natur, whose ambition was to synthesize biological knowledge and plastic beauty. These plates on corals played a crucial role in understanding marine biodiversity in the Victorian period. Haeckel's naturalist style is distinguished by its ability to isolate the study object to make it a scientific icon, combining taxonomic rigor with evocative graphic force.

This poster is suitable for interiors seeking a touch of scientific authenticity and visual calm. It constitutes an ideal support for the study or contemplation of complex organic structures. Enthusiasts of marine biology and historical engravings will find a major documentary interest here, perfect for dressing a wall with elegance while recalling the fragility and splendor of global coral reefs.
