Print Tama River in Musashi Province - Katsushika Hokusai

This ukiyo-e print reproduction illustrates a landscape view of the Tama River located in Musashi Province. The plate features a boat navigating calm waters, with Mount Fuji rising majestically in the background. The composition uses fluid lines to guide the eye along the course of the water, creating a depth of field typical of Katsushika Hokusai's work on natural perspective.

Taken from the famous Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji suite published around 1830, this engraving bears witness to the modern approach to landscape in the Edo period. The expressive use of the line and the balanced chromatic palette, combining the white of the mountain ridges with the orange hues of the sky, underline the documentary dimension of the work. Hokusai manages here to capture a serene atmosphere where human presence is harmoniously integrated into the vast geographical panorama.

This reproduction is intended for amateurs of classical Japanese landscapes and iconographic studies. It can be collected for its historical value or used to punctuate a space of contemplation. Respect for original proportions and the strength of the line makes this print a representative piece of the influence of Japanese art on the global landscape.
