This faithful reproduction presents a plate of the Pteris rotundifolia fern. The specimen is rendered using the historical cyanotype technique, producing a detailed white silhouette on a uniform Prussian blue background. The cartouche containing the plant's name adds an academic and structured dimension to this particularly legible naturalist composition.

Created by Anna Atkins between 1843 and 1853, this type of photographic print marked a major advancement in 19th-century scientific illustration. Atkins combined her botanical training with nascent photographic experimentation to create a visual inventory of species, favoring the actual imprint of the plant over manual artistic interpretation.

Intended for botany and art history enthusiasts, this illustration stands out for its graphic elegance and simplicity. It can be displayed as a single piece or as part of a thematic wall series, bringing a serene and scientific atmosphere to any interior looking to value natural history and photographic heritage.
