Purple Geometric Rosette Plate, Samarkande by Émile-Allain Séguy

This reproduction presents an ornamental plate from the collection Samarkande, a major work by Émile-Allain Séguy. The composition is structured around a central rosette and diamond-shaped geometric motifs, set in a cool palette of purples, blues, and greens. Visual study reveals a rigorous balance between architectural structures and stylized plant silhouettes, characteristic of the artist's decorative approach.

Published around 1920, the album Samarkande bears witness to the influence of oriental motifs on Art Deco aesthetics. Émile-Allain Séguy displays a technical mastery specific to stenciling, favoring dense areas of flat color and clean lines. This plate embodies the transition between classical ornamentation and early 20th-century graphic modernity, where nature is reinterpreted through the prism of geometry.

This antique illustration constitutes a precious archival document for collectors of decorative arts and lovers of graphic design. Its highly ornamental character and nuanced chromatic palette allow detailed observation of the visual rhythms of the period. It integrates naturally into a documentary set dedicated to the history of the motif or as a sober and historical wall decoration element.
