Reproduction of the jellyfish plate (Discomedusae) by Ernst Haeckel

This careful reproduction features a scientific plate dedicated to Discomedusae, or disk jellyfishes, taken from Ernst Haeckel's iconic work. The illustration stands out for its striking contrast of red, pink, and green on a dark background, highlighting the transparency and radial symmetry of these cnidarians. The visual hierarchy of the elements allows one to appreciate the complex morphology of each specimen with remarkable documentary clarity.

Originally published as part of Kunstformen der Natur in the early 20th century, this work illustrates Haeckel's commitment to revealing the beauty of frequently overlooked life forms. The graphic style, characterized by fluid lines and ornamental repetition, greatly contributed to defining the visual codes of the era. This naturalist lithography remains an essential reference for both marine biology and the history of graphic arts.

Ideal for an elegant and scholarly interior decoration, this poster invites the observation of marine biodiversity. It is intended for collectors of antique reproductions and biology enthusiasts wishing to incorporate a fragment of the history of science into their environment. The visual strength of these jellyfishes brings a mysterious and aesthetic dimension to any living or working space.
