This reproduction of a naturalist plate from the 1910 Larousse Encyclopedia is dedicated to herpetology. It presents a set of reptiles and amphibians, including snakes, lizards, turtles, and batrachians. Each specimen is illustrated with remarkable morphological precision, highlighting the diversity of scales, shells, and cutaneous textures of these species.

The original document belongs to the iconographic corpus of Éditions Larousse from the early 20th century, a pivotal period for the popularization of natural sciences. The rigorous layout and academic graphic style testify to an effort of encyclopedic classification. The visual details allow for a comparative study of the various reptile and amphibian families recorded at the time.

This scientific illustration is particularly suited for collectors of naturalist images and lovers of cabinets of curiosities. It brings a historical and scholarly dimension to wall decoration, offering a subject of contemplation that is both sober and rich in information for a classic-style office or living room.
