Scientific plate of cubozoa by Ernst Haeckel

This reproduction of a scientific plate illustrates cubozoa, jellyfish characterized by their distinctive cubic shape. The illustration depicts with remarkable clarity the transparency and tentacles of these marine organisms. The hierarchical composition allows the observation of different species from a rigorous naturalist angle, highlighting their unique morphology.

From the Kunstformen der Natur collection, this plate is the work of biologist Ernst Haeckel. Through his lithographs, Haeckel explored the symmetries of the living world, creating a bridge between rigorous science and visual aesthetics. His work on cnidarians remains a reference for understanding the evolution of zoological illustration at the turn of the century.

Ideal for enriching a natural history image collection, this reproduction invites the discovery of oceanic depths. It appeals to marine biology enthusiasts as well as those looking for antique scientific visuals for their interior. This piece testifies to historical interest in the classification of marine species.
