This reproduction is a botanical print depicting an open pomegranate. The work highlights the texture of the fruit's rind and the multitude of its red and juicy arils. A branch bearing a few leaves and a small flower completes this naturalist study, offering a detailed vision of the plant at different stages of its development. The composition is precise and balanced.

This plate is the work of the Japanese artist Kōno Bairei (1844-1895), master of Meiji era naturalist illustration. His work is characterized by rigorous observation of fauna and flora, combined with line elegance inherited from the Maruyama-Shijō school of painting. This pomegranate illustration testifies to this dual approach, both scientific and artistic.

Ideal for lovers of botanical art and collectors of Japanese prints, this pomegranate reproduction is a decorative piece rich in symbols. It evokes abundance and fertility, while being a fine representation of late 19th-century naturalist art.
