This reproduction illustrates the Ayase River at Kanegafuchi, a bucolic scene extracted from the corpus of the "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo". The central subject, a mimosa branch with pink flowers, frames a river landscape where a man guides a raft on the Sumida, at the confluence of the Ayase tributary.

Published in 1857, this print by Utagawa Hiroshige demonstrates exceptional mastery of chromatics, visible in the gradations of the sky and water. The artist here captures the northernmost point of the river represented in his series, offering a precise naturalist study of the reed-lined banks and daily river life.

This antique illustration is particularly suited for collection spaces or thematic decoration. It allows for the study of traditional ukiyo-e composition, where the floral foreground creates a depth of field characteristic of the Edo period graphic style.
