Ukiyo-e plate Storm beneath the Summit (Sanka haku) - Hokusai

This ukiyo-e print reproduction captures a striking meteorological contrast on the slopes of Mount Fuji. While the summit of the mountain bathes in clear light above the clouds, its base is darkened by a violent thunderstorm marked by stylized lightning. This chromatic study plays on the opposition between the deep browns of the base and the serene blue of the high-altitude sky.

Considered one of the masterpieces of Katsushika Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series (around 1830), this work demonstrates exceptional graphic strength. The artist deploys an expert visual vocabulary to represent the power of natural elements. The hierarchy of colors and the simplicity of the line give this plate a timeless visual modernity.

Ideal for lovers of graphic art and natural phenomena, this antique illustration fits perfectly into a thematic collection on the Japanese landscape. It offers strong contemplative value thanks to its balance between dramatic tension and serenity. This faithful reproduction allows one to appreciate the precision of the original line in a format adapted to contemporary decoration.
