View of the Libyan Mountain Range from Luxor - David Roberts

This reproduction of a lithograph by David Roberts offers a panoramic view of the Libyan mountain range, observed from the heights of the temple of Luxor. The composition prioritizes the elements of the landscape: the ornate balustrade in the foreground, the boats navigating the Nile, and the immensity of the Theban plain in the background. The balance between the bluish hues of the water and the brown nuances of the reliefs emphasizes the depth of field.

The original document is part of the systematic documentation effort of Egyptian sites carried out by Roberts in 1838. It illustrates the strategic location of the remains of Medinet-Abou and the temple of Goorna at the foot of the mountains. This chromatic and geographical study allows one to visualize the extent of the ancient ruins of Thebes within their natural and topographical environment of the 19th century.

This plate is ideal for documenting the iconography of Nile landscapes and the evolution of archaeological sites. It integrates perfectly into a collection dedicated to travel narratives or historical geography, offering a clear and serene reading of the landscapes of Upper Egypt.
