This reproduction offers an ornamental plate from Émile-Allain Séguy's collection Samarkand. It depicts a weeping willow with loose branches and drooping green leaves against a dark background. Stylized aquatic motifs, rendered in purple and gold, animate the lower part of the composition, creating a structured graphic landscape.

Through this 1920s work, Séguy explores themes of nature with a decorative rigor typical of Art Deco. The contrasts between the deep brown background and the golden flashes recall the techniques of lacquer or precious textiles. The plate is part of an approach to documenting forms for the applied arts.

This antique print is suited for interior decoration seeking to combine sobriety and richness of detail. It can be collected with other motifs from the Samarkand series to create a cohesive ensemble. Its contemplative character makes it a prime piece for the study of historical design.
