This reproduction features a white eagle perched on a cypress branch, based on an original work by Kōno Bairei. The illustration stands out for the contrast between the bird's striking white plumage and the brown and green tones of the conifer. The strength of the line and the expression of the animal highlight the quality of this Japanese naturalist study.

Dating from the Meiji era, this animal print is part of a corpus aimed at inventorying fauna with artistic precision. Bairei uses the codes of traditional art to serve a descriptive intention, offering a precious visual testimony on the perception of nature in Japan at the end of the 19th century.

This reproduction of a white eagle lends itself to a meticulous observation of the details of the engraving. It finds its place among enthusiasts of ornithology and natural history, bringing documentary interest and historical depth to a collection of antique plates.
