This reproduction presents an architectural plate signed by Hasui Kawase, illustrating the monumental interior of the Chion-in Temple in Kyoto. The view emphasizes the massive dark wood pillars that structure the space, opening onto an exterior garden in green and blue tones. The composition plays on depth of field and light contrasts between the protective shade of the temple and the clarity of nature.

The artwork reflects Kawase's documentary rigor within the Shin-hanga movement. By isolating these structural elements, the artist offers a study of traditional Japanese carpentry and the spatial harmony specific to religious buildings. The graphic style combines almost technical precision with a calm atmosphere, representative of 1930s Japan.

This illustration can be collected for its historical interest or used in decoration for its structured and soothing aspect. It is aimed at lovers of traditional architecture and those seeking to integrate a classic documentary view into their environment.
