The Calyptrogyne , of which we have published the faithful image, was dedicated by Mr. Wendland to the Belgian collector Ghiesbreght. This plant belongs to a group of small, very elegant palms, whose shape recalls that of the Geonoma . Its large green blades are divided into broad pennules. At their summit, they are bifurcated and end in an elongated and fine point. This palm often flowers in greenhouses; the straight and elongated spadix, covered with small succulent berries, adds further to the ornamental effect produced by the plant.
