Color lithograph: General view of Karnak, towards Biban el-Molouk
This engraving by David Roberts offers an impressive panoramic view of the Great Temple of Karnak, with a perspective that extends from the circumvallation wall to the most sacred sanctuaries, passing by the obelisks, the colossal Hall of Columns, and the vast courtyards. From this angle, one can also see the imposing masses of the great propylon and, beyond the Nile, the plains of Medinet Abu and Goorna, as far as the Libyan mountains where the Valley of the Kings of Thebes is located.
The unparalleled grandeur of the Karnak Temple spans nearly three kilometers in circumference, with walls eighty feet high. This print captures the magnificence of this monumental complex, recalling Egyptian structures in all their ancient splendor. Ideal for history and architecture enthusiasts, it allows you to appreciate the grandeur of the Pharaohs through ruins that continue to bear witness to their power and wealth. This artwork will add a touch of elegance and mystery to your space, evoking the immensity and majesty of ancient Egyptian temples.
Reproduction of an engraving of a drawing by David Roberts (1796-1864) made during his three-month journey from Alexandria to the temple of Abu Simbel in Nubia, a journey of more than fifteen hundred kilometers.
His drawings were already the subject of considerable success during his lifetime, in particular those published between 1846 and 1849 in the form of three volumes, published in London by FG Moon and entitled Egypt and Nubia, made from the drawings and sketches made during this trip to the banks of the Nile during the winter of 1838-1839, and lithographed by Louis Haghe.
