Green Butterfly Illustrated Mug and Calligraphy, Kamisaka Sekka

This white ceramic mug is adorned with a reproduction of an antique illustration by the Japanese master Kamisaka Sekka. The motif features a green-winged butterfly with compartmentalized details, accompanied by calligraphic characters. This graphic composition stands out for its balanced chromatic study and great visual power.

Originating from the collection Chō senshu published in 1903, this plate bears witness to the Rinpa artistic movement. Sekka combines the finesse of the Japanese tradition with a precursor ornamental vocabulary, marking the renewal of printmaking at the turn of the 20th century.

Designed for daily use, this mug enhances your moments of relaxation during a coffee or tea break. It is an ideal gift idea for enthusiasts of Asian art and naturalist illustrations.
