Color lithograph: Ibrim Fortress, Nubia

Admire this captivating engraving of the Ibrim Fortress in Nubia, an impressive building perched on a rocky promontory. The view highlights the ruins of the walls, towers, and defenses of this ancient fortress, blending Egyptian and Roman elements in a late style. The remains include stone buildings with decorated cornices and Corinthian columns, as well as blocks bearing the name of the Ethiopian king Tirhaka. Painted caves below feature inscriptions from pharaohs such as Thutmose and Ramses II.

Ideal for those with a passion for ancient architecture and military history, this print adds a unique dimension to your decor by capturing the fortress's solitary and majestic atmosphere. It evokes Ibrim's past grandeur, once an important strategic outpost, offering a striking contrast to its current arid, desert-like setting. This artwork will bring a touch of history and exoticism to your space, while celebrating the cultural richness of Nubia.

Reproduction of an engraving of a drawing by David Roberts (1796-1864) made during his three-month journey from Alexandria to the temple of Abu Simbel in Nubia, a journey of more than fifteen hundred kilometers.

His drawings were already the subject of considerable success during his lifetime, in particular those published between 1846 and 1849 in the form of three volumes, published in London by FG Moon and entitled Egypt and Nubia, made from the drawings and sketches made during this trip to the banks of the Nile during the winter of 1838-1839, and lithographed by Louis Haghe.
