"Shitaya Hirokōji" (original title: 下谷広小路) is a woodblock print by the Japanese painter and illustrator Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) produced in September 1856.
The image shows a panoramic view of Hirokōji Street ("Great Street") leading to Kan'ei-ji Temple in Ueno, whose fog-shrouded location serves as the vanishing point of the image. Among the figures on the street pass a group of samurai and a long procession of women carrying umbrellas. In the foreground of the street, on the right side, is the Matsuzakaya textile trading building, recently rebuilt after the total destruction caused by the 1855 earthquake. These warehouses are still located on the same site today.
