Color lithograph: Kom Ombo
Admire the grandeur of the Temple of Kom-Ombo, a marvel of the Ptolemaic era dedicated to Sevek and Aroeris. This double temple is unique, equally honoring these two Egyptian deities without favoritism. The Greek inscription over the entrance reveals that this construction was partly financed by troops stationed in the region during the reigns of Ptolemy VI and Cleopatra. The temple, even in ruins, remains impressive with its fifteen columns, thirteen of which still stand, and its portico adorned with majestic motifs.
This remarkable temple features intriguing architecture, with the separation between the sections dedicated to the two gods existing only at the adyta level. The sculptures and inscriptions offer a fascinating insight into the religion and politics of the time. The ornate columned façade and the remains of the great pylon bear witness to Kom-Ombo's past splendor. Perfect for history and archaeology enthusiasts, this reproduction will add a touch of elegance and mystery to your space.
Reproduction of an engraving of a drawing by David Roberts (1796-1864) made during his three-month journey from Alexandria to the temple of Abu Simbel in Nubia, a journey of more than fifteen hundred kilometers.
His drawings were already the subject of considerable success during his lifetime, in particular those published between 1846 and 1849 in the form of three volumes, published in London by FG Moon and entitled Egypt and Nubia, made from the drawings and sketches made during this trip to the banks of the Nile during the winter of 1838-1839, and lithographed by Louis Haghe.
