"Flower Park and Dangozaka Slope in Sendagi" (original title: 千駄木団子坂花屋敷) is a woodblock print by the Japanese painter and illustrator Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) produced in May 1856.
Here is another example of the artist's ability to create sweeping panoramas combining natural and architectural elements with the help of small figures that give the whole a human dimension. Again, the lower part is dominated by the cherry blossoms of a public park where people walk, talk, and drink tea. A white fog tinged with blue and red covers the trees, amid which stands the Shisentei ("Purple Fountain Pavilion") building, which offers a view of the Ueno district and Shinobazu Pond. The garden was designed only four years earlier by the gardener Kusuda Uheiji. The identification of the two parts of the print has long been the subject of speculation, but it is likely that they are the same place despite the strong contrast, perhaps in two different seasons.
