In the publication dated 1827 from which the plate is taken, the detail of this illustration is given as follows:
(Ixia phlogiflora Red., Lil.) This species was cultivated in the garden of Saint-Cloud. It is native to the Cape of Good Hope. (Leucoium oestivum L.) This pretty plant of the Narcissus family is native to the mountains of Europe. As its name indicates, it is not a spring flower like the other species (Leucoium vernum), which flowers so early that it is commonly called Snowdrop."
