In the publication dated 1827 from which the plate is taken, the detail of this illustration is given as follows:
A variety of the fruit of the common apricot tree (Armeniaca vulgaris Lamck, Prunus armeniaca L.). This variety is the largest and tastiest; the flesh is slightly reddish and very succulent. It ripens in early August.
