(Lonicera Caprifolium L.) The Italian Honeysuckle is a climbing shrub, used to decorate the arches, trellises, and walls of ornamental gardens. The flexibility of its stems makes it suitable for any shape you want to give it; but it is never more elegant than when planted near trees in avenues; it winds around their trunks, intertwines with their branches, and descends in garlands of flowers that flatter both the sight and the smell. This plant grows spontaneously in the hedges of southern European countries. Two early Italian varieties are particularly cultivated, one with red flowers, the other with white flowers.
