"Fukagawa Susaki and Jūmantsubo" (original title: 深川州崎十万坪) is a woodblock print by the Japanese painter and illustrator Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) produced in May 1857.
Like plate 102, the upper part of this image is dominated by the presence of a bird, in this case an eagle, whose precise outline and shades of gray of the feathers are rendered by printing using mica, while the talons are depicted with animal glue (nikawa), adding a touch of brilliance. The eagle soars above a snowy field crossed by a river, with the silhouette of Mount Tsukuba in the background. Fukagawa Susaki lies to the east of Sumida-gawa, while Jūmantsubo, a terraced area northeast of Susaki, belonged to a daimyo. Its name, Jūman tsubo, indicates the scale of the farm: 100,000 tsubo (one tsubo being a Japanese unit of measurement equivalent to 3.306 square meters; in this case, 100,000 tsubo corresponds to 0.3 square kilometers). This print is one of the most popular in the series, alongside plates 58 and 118.
